Gareth Hughes
Gareth Hughes was born in Great Britain and spent his childhood across a variety of equestrian sports including Dressage, Showing and Western whilst he was living in Australia. Gareth decided to return to England at the age of 23.
Gareth met international 5* judge Stephen Clarke in 1999, where he then based. Stephen went on to be one of Gareth’s main influencers throughout his career.
Hughes Dressage was born in 2011 when Gareth and his wife Rebecca moved into their own premises in Warwickshire.
Gareth has an outstanding line up of accolades, including a bronze medal at the 2013 European Championships in Herning and a silver medal at the Normandy World Equestrian Games in 2014. Over the past 10 years, Gareth has earnt more than 60 National and International Titles including International wins both in the UK and abroad. He has been a member of Team GBR for the Nations Cup, with numerous wins.
If there was a stand out year, it was 2019 where Gareth finished in the top ten individually at the European Championships, along with earning nine International Titles. Gareth has just gone from strength to strength since then.
These tutorials are a testament to Gareth’s training, as they were filmed in 2018 and you can now see many of the horses competing anywhere up to Grand Prix looking happy and relaxed. It’s an absolute pleasure watching Gareth train, and every video has many gems throughout.
